Snow Days Lead to Progress!!!

Sorry for the lull in the posting here - even if it is only the second post!!!!  I have been busy getting some stitching done.  This has been one CRAZY week here.  We have had a week full of snow days, so that means that I have had an exorbitant amount of time to pick up a hook or needle and get some work done - and I have done just that.

I recently received a book I ordered from Amazon by Jan Eaton titled 200 Crochet Blocks.  This is a wonderful book!  There are so many beautiful squares.  But that is not the best part of the book.  She also includes pages in how to plan an afghan with the squares, linking up complimentary squares to each of the 200 she includes.  She even gives color combination suggestions.  I am in love with this book.  In saying this, I went out and bought some yarn and have been playing around with some of the squares.  I have 10 of them done.  I am doing all of them with an H hook and the colors Honeydew, Orchid, Pale Yellow, and Soft White by Red Heart.

In addition to those squares, I have started the Red Heart CAL -Checkerboard Textures Throw.  The first block was posted:  Cross-stitched Square.  This was a fun one to do.  Last week when this CAL was announced, I ordered some Red Heart Soft (the suggested yarn) in an orange color.  However, my yarn, which was scheduled for delivery has yet to arrive, so I decided to use some yarn I recently bought from Wal-Mart called Red Heart With Love.  I chose the color Peacock.  It is a very vibrant color, and perfect for this textured throw.
Another CAL I have joined is a Facebook Community - Official CCC Social Group (Crafty Crochet Community).  They post a new square each Sunday.  So far there have been 2 squares.  Here are mine:
Popcorn Parade

In my first post I mentioned the Moogly Afghan CAL.  The second block was just posted this week, here it is:
It is called the Catalina Afghan Square by Julie Yeager.  I am doing my squares all in Soft White.  I think that this will make the patterns / textures stand out.

My other needlecraft - primitive embroider - has had some progress as well.  While some are ready for framing, some still need buttons added and tea-dyed before framing.

Time to get back to my crochet hook!!!!!  Hope I have added some inspiration for you!!!!

Starting a New Year Doing What I Love!!!

It has been a while since I have regularly crocheted.  In the past I crocheted all the time, but it has been a year or more since I have picked up the hook. Not sure why I have been a crochet slacker, but with the new year, I have rejuvenated my desire to crochet!!!  I am also going to keep a Ravelry page to track my projects - Sara's Ravelry Page.

To start off, I have decided to join in on a few crochet-alongs.  The first one is the Moogly Afghan Crochet-Along.  I am doing it in a solid color - Red Heart Soft White.

This CAL will entail 24 different 12" squares posted two or three times a month.  The schedule is as follows:
The first square for this CAL is the Anticipation Mystery Afghan 12" Block.  Here is my square:
There are a couple of pages you can check out more information:

The next CAL I am joining is the Ravelry BAM (Block-a-Month) Crochet-along.  This is a group on Ravelry.

There are 3 squares each month.  For January we have the following:
My squares:
Easy Daisy
Lemony Lime Citrus

Red Heart also has a CAL starting on January 22nd - Checkerboard Textures Throw Crochet Along.  This one is gorgeous.  It will involve 10 textured squares and 10 granny squares for a total of 20 squares.  Not sure what color I will use.  I will have to see what shades of Red Heart Soft that WalMart has right now and make a choice.

Well, that does it for the crochet hook.  In addition to crochet, I am going to be stitching a few primitive pictures I purchased from Nutmeg Hare.

I haven't started these as I want to get some Warm & Natural to put behind them.  Need to make that trip to Wally World soon.

Hope that is inspiration enough for now.  See ya soon!!!!!
